Bryan Zielinski
Administrative Fellow 2020-2021

Bryan Zielinski joined Luminis Health in June of Fiscal Year 2021. He
graduated from Vanderbilt University with his Master’s in Business
Administration with a concentration in Healthcare Management. As a student,
Bryan worked at Vanderbilt Health Professional Solutions, a subsidiary of
Vanderbilt University Medical Center that coordinates the development and
management of emerging business enterprises.
Prior to business school, he work at the Advisory Board Company for 5
years as a hospital revenue cycle consultant. He graduated from the University
of Richmond in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology.
Marguerite Crandall
Administrative Fellow 2019-2020

Marguerite Crandall joined Anne Arundel Medical Center in June of Fiscal Year 2020. She completed her Master of Health Services Administration degree from the University of Michigan. During graduate school, she worked for the Washtenaw Health Initiative and completed her internship at Vanderbilt
University Medical Center.
Prior to returning to school, Marguerite worked at a Critical Access Hospital in West Virginia and graduated from the University of Richmond with a Bachelor of Arts in Healthcare and Society.
Marianthi N Hatzigeorgiou
Administrative Fellow 2018-2019
Marianthi Hatzigeorgiou serves as program manager to the Rapid Implementation of Strategic Experiments Unit. During her fellowship, she worked on various projects including supporting leaders with various parts of the Doctors Community Hospital System partnership, strategic planning for cardiac surgery, preparing the second annual Health Equity Report, and authoring the American Hospital Association’s Equity of Care Award application.
Hatzigeorgiou completed her Master of Health Services Administration degree in Global Health Management and Policy from the University of Michigan in 2018. During graduate school, she worked at the University of Michigan Center for Value-Based Insurance Design and completed her internship at the Siemens Healthineers’ global headquarters in Erlangen, Germany. Hatzigeorgiou graduated from Indiana University in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience, a Bachelor of Arts in English, and a Bachelor of Science in Human Biology with a concentration in Growth and Development. Christian Balcer
Administrative Fellow 2017-2018
Christian Balcer serves as the Manager of Nursing Operations in the main hospital. In this position, he focuses on improvement efforts related to staffing and patient throughput. He oversees day-to-day operations and has direct responsibility for all patient safety attendants and patient transporters, and also supports other projects impacting the nursing world. He is an instructor for the organization’s Leadership Development Institute and is a committee member for the Employee Giving Campaign. As the fellow, he worked on a wide range of projects, including serving on the system’s Opioid Taskforce, managing insurance denials, supporting hospital negotiations with its largest payer, developing the strategic vision for potential partnerships, and creating AAMC’s first annual Health Equity Report. He also authored AAMC’s runner-up application for the American Hospital Association’s 2018 Quest for Quality Prize.
Outside of AAMC, Christian is a Division I collegiate soccer official and volunteers with the Annapolis STAIR Program, where he is an after-school, second-grade reading tutor. Prior to joining AAMC, he completed his Master of Health Services Administration degree from the University of Michigan and his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Operations from Calvin College. He has previous experience interning at a variety of organizations: Holy Family Memorial, Spectrum Health, the University of Michigan Center for Value-Based Insurance Design, and Goldman Sachs. Sarah Haas
Administrative Fellow 2016-2017
Sarah Haas serves as the senior manager of care transformation and value-based payment. In this role, she evaluates and manages new payment models and methodologies, such as: value-based contracts, care redesign programs, and Maryland’s all-payer rate-setting policies. She joined Anne Arundel Medical Center as the administrative fellow for FY 17. During her fellowship, Sarah worked on a variety of projects including: service line strategic planning, financial analysis for new business entities, Emergency Department process improvement, cardiac surgery program creation, and new payment model development. Before joining AAMC, she gained experience working in rural healthcare, practice management, hospice services, and health policy. Sarah graduated from The University of Alabama with a Bachelor of Science in management and specialization in health care. She holds a master’s degree in Health Administration and master’s degree in Business Administration from The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). Sarah can be reached at

Valerie Lehman
Administrative Fellow 2015-2016
Valerie Lehman serves as practice manager for AAMC Oncology and Hematology. In this role, she is responsible for the daily operations and management of this large oncology and hematology practice. She is also responsible for AAMC's government relations work. Previously at AAMC, Valerie was AAMC's senior manager for the Institute for Healthy Aging and manager for Palliative Care and Government Affairs. During her fellowship, her projects included writing a business plan for expanding palliative care and a Certificate of Need application for a new mental health hospital at AAMC.
Her prior professional experience includes serving as health policy fellow in the Washington, DC, office of Congressman John P. Sarbanes (MD-03) and in various program support positions at the Institute of Medicine (now the National Academy of Medicine) for more than three years. Valerie first
developed her interest in health care by interning for Congressman Patrick J. Murphy (former PA-08) in 2010 while the Affordable Care Act was being crafted and voted on. She graduated from The George Washington University with a Master of Health Administration degree in 2016 and The Pennsylvania State University's
